How to Get a Teaching License in Wyoming
Wyoming has a reciprocity program with nineteen other states to assist high qualified teachers moving to the area with becoming Wyoming teachers. The Wyoming Board of Education is always looking for enthusiastic teachers to join their team of certified teachers. Those qualified applicants without an out-of-state teaching license are given every opportunity to join the teaching team.

Go to the local police station to get fingerprinted. This process needs to be completed by a law enforcement office and the application must be filled out according to the fingerprinting cards instructions. The card must be notarized which can usually be done at the police station.

Apply for eligibility for reciprocity if you have taught 3 of the last 6 years in the field of your certificate. These applicants still must take and pass the two of the PRAXIS exams. Although you still must take the tests, this is still the shortest route to certification in Wyoming.

Take the PRAXIS exam if you are a new applicant and have an Elementary Education or Social Studies majors. The PRAXIS is a measure of basic academic skill. There are three separate levels of the PRAXIS and depending on the type of certification you want; you will need to take one or all of the tests.

Request and have sent directly to you, any and all certified college transcripts from all colleges attended. You will submit these papers with the rest of your application papers.

Study for the Wyoming state test regarding the Wyoming and US constitution. All Wyoming teachers should possess knowledge on both subjects to be in the classroom. This test can be given by any education administrator by them being present while the test is being taken. This makes the certification process that much easier for out of state applicants.

Fill out the type of certification that you are wishing to acquire. There are several different types of certifications that an educator can apply for. New teachers, returning teachers, coaches, special programs and endorsements to certifications all have separate and different applications. Read all applications that may apply to you so that you don't have to repeat the process because of applying for the wrong application.

Send in the applicable fees that are stated within your application. Along with the application include all certifications from other states, college transcripts, test scores, and fingerprint card. All forms and papers must be sent in together.
