Save those small pieces of soap that are too tiny to use and make a soap mitt. The soap mitt will not only help you get every last bit of use out of that bar of soap, but it's great for exfoliating the skin. Even if you don't want to spend the time saving soap pieces, you can use new soap flakes and make the soap mitt as a present.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 pieces of cotton fabric 5 1/2-by-5 1/2 inches each
  • 1 piece of cotton webbing 5 1/2-by-5 1/2 inches
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Soap flakes or bar of soap
  • Box grater (optional)
  1. Step 1

Place the cotton webbing piece of fabric in between the two pieces of cloth fabric. The cloth fabric needs to be placed right-sides facing inwards towards the mesh.

  2. Step 2

Use the sewing machine and stitch with a double stitch around the outside edge of the fabric, leaving about half of the final edge open so you can turn your fabric.

  3. Step 3

Turn your fabric right side out and be sure to push out any corners.

  4. Step 4

Fill the bag with soap flakes, about half full to one-quarter full is sufficient. If you're making your own soap flakes from a bar, use a box cheese grater and choose the slicing side of the grater. Hold the soap with the smaller end towards the blade and grate to create soap flakes.

  5. Step 5

Stitch the opening closed by hand using the needle and thread.
