There are two main types of electrical jobs: maintenance, which involves testing, troubleshooting and repairing already installed, non-functioning, electrical systems, and construction, which involves wiring, installing, and testing electrical systems and reading blueprints. If you would like a rewarding career as an electrician, you can easily take an electrician training course and get started relatively soon. Here are the steps you should follow.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Find a technical college in your area. Most communities have at least one such college and almost all of them offer electrician training courses.
Step2
Enroll in the electrician's program at your local technical college. The tuition is usually affordable, and the length of the program is reasonably short.
Step3
Learn the basics. You can opt to go further with your education if you like, but just aim for the general knowledge required to become a basic electrician.
Step4
Discover the inner workings of electronic devices. After your training period, you will have the ability to install, repair and maintain electrical equipment.
Step5
Enter an apprentice program. Upon completion of your studies, sign on with a notable electrician to get on-the-job training that will help you apply your knowledge and get you started in the field.
