Instructions

    • 1

Send party invitations well in advance and encourage guests to come dressed as their favorite character from the Lord of the Rings. Spray gold paint on a small metal key ring and attach to the invitation.

    • 2

Hang large fabric banners on the walls that have the shields from either the House of Rohan or the Kingdom of Gondor stuck on them. You can find pictures on the Internet and then print them on your computer and enlarge if necessary before attaching them to the fabric banner.

    • 3

Cover your tables with butcher paper that has a wood-grain design painted on it. Use brown and black acrylic paints and let dry thoroughly before use. As a centerpiece, fill a basket with matzah crackers and tell party guests it's lembas bread, the staple of Sam and Bilbo's diet while traveling in Mordor.

    • 4

Make a Treebeard replica to greet guests as they arrive along with a sign that says "Welcome to Middle Earth." Roll three pieces of poster board into tube shapes and attach them together to form the trunk. Add papier mâché to create a rough surface and then attach additional papier mâché branches to the top of the tube. Paint the whole thing brown and add a face to the trunk.

    • 5

Prepare some Lord of the Rings trivia questions before the party. Then divide your guests into teams and play a game awarding points to the team if they answer their question correctly. If they don't, the opposing team gets a chance to answer the same question to earn half the points.
