How to Trap a Wild Boar

Trapping wild boars can be a challenging and time-consuming project. You cannot expect to trap a boar on the first night. The animals are intelligent, which requires more effort on the trapper's part. Read this eHow to learn more about trapping a wild boar.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Learn the regulations concerning trapping or hunting wild boar by going to the Department of Wildlife's website for your state. Your state may also have a Fish and Game Department.

  2. Step 2

    Research the wild boar's habitat. You may do this by going to the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife or such sites as People's Trust or the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

  3. Step 3

    Build a trap. You may find plans at Texas Boars.

  4. Step 4

    Purchase a pre-made trap or snare from a hunting supply store or from such sites as the Snare Shop.

  5. Step 5

    Set up the trap in the area you have determined is currently used by wild boars. Check for scat, signs of the boar rooting around in the ground, or talk to locals and find out where boar live in the area.

  6. Step 6

    Transport the animal from the trap to either a new location or to a slaughterhouse once you have caught it. Remember that wild boars are extremely dangerous, and approaching a live boar improperly may cost you your life.
