How to Add Google Talk to a Blog

Google Talk is a communications program that allows you to chat, make voice-over-IP calls, send and receive files, and more. The Google Talk Gadget does not require a download and can be implemented into a blog or web page with many of the same features of the Google Talk client. Adding Google Talk to your blog will give you a new way to communicate with your readers.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Visit the Google Talk homepage and click on the "Get the code here" link to receive your Google Talk Gadget code.

  2. Step 2

    Go to the bottom of the page and customize your Google Talk Gadget. You can set your own title, adjust the size of the gadget and pick a design for the border.

  3. Step 3

    Press the "Preview Changes" button to see what you Google Talk Gadget will look like when you put it on your blog. You may have to go back and make changes if it does not have the exact look you want.

  4. Step 4

    Hit the "Get the Code" button. A code will appear in the box underneath the button. This is the code that you will use to place Google Talk on your blog.

  5. Step 5

    Copy the code from the dialog box. Highlight it with your cursor and press "CTRL-C" on a PC or "Command-C" on a MAC.

  6. Step 6

    Paste the code into your blog template. Go to the necessary place and simply hit "CTRL-P" or "Command-P" to apply the code. Check your blog software help guides if you need assistance finding where to place the code.

  7. Step 7

    Preview your blog to verify that Google Talk is showing up and appears correctly on your blog. If you need to change anything about the Google Talk Gadget, return to the code page and make the necessary adjustments. You may have to adjust your blog to get the positioning just right.
