How to Make a Death by Chocolate Cake

  • 4 eggs
  • Milk (according to the cake mix)
  • 1/2 cup dark rum
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 devils food or chocolate cake mix
  • Cake pan
  • Butter
  • 1 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • Sifter
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 milk chocolate bar
  • 1 dark chocolate bar
  • 1 white chocolate bar
  • Grater

Instructions

  1. Make the cake

      Mix the eggs, milk, rum, chocolate chips and water in a bowl. Stir until blended.

      Add the cake mix and stir until combined.

      Grease the cake pan with butter.

      Pour the mix into the pan. Smooth it into all of the corners of the pan.

      Place the cake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes. Check to see if the cake is completely cooked. If not, continue to cook the cake in 10 minute intervals until the cake is cooked all the way through.

      Remove the cake from oven and allow it to cool.

    Make the Frosting

      Sift the cocoa and sugar into a fine mix.

      Soften the butter in the microwave for 10 to 20 seconds. Add evaporated milk, vanilla, cocoa and the flour mix. Stir until creamy.

      Spread the frosting evenly over the cake.

      Shred the chocolate bars and sprinkle over the top of the cake for a garnish.
