How to Make Southern Ice Tea

It has often been remarked that ice tea is the "house wine of the south"; and it is true. Southerners drink ice tea all the time with just about everything. If you have ever had a glass of southern ice tea, then you know that is better than any other variety. What follows are the steps to make this delectable drink.

Things You'll Need

• Family-size teabags
• Water
• Sugar

Instructions

1. Find a gallon-sized tea pitcher. Anything smaller will not suffice because you are going to want to drink as much of this tea as you can.

2. Boil about three cups of water. It is essential that you wait to add the tea bags after the water is boiled or the tea will come out tasting metallic and weak.

3. Add three teabags to the water once it boils. Then set aside the tea for about ten minutes to allow it to steep.

4. Put at least one full cup of sugar in the bottom of your pitcher, then pour the steeped tea into it. Allow the sugar to completely dissolve, stir it up, and fill the pitcher with water.

5. Add ice to the tea and refrigerate for one hour. Then, voilà! You have perfect southern ice tea.
