Instructions

    • 1

Cut a length of 1 inch nylon webbing to approximately 3 feet long. This length may need to be cut down, depending on the type and size of your pet.

    • 2

Weave one end of the webbing through the D-ring and the receptacle part of the buckle. Fold the end about 1 1/2 inches past the buckle, and sew securely.

    • 3

Thread the remaining end of the webbing into the slider and the remaining end of the buckle. Fold the end under about 1 1/2 inches past the slider, and sew it securely.

    • 4

Try it on your pet and adjust for fit. The collar should be snug, but not constrictive. You should be able to fit a couple of fingers between your pets neck and the collar.

    • 5

Personalize the collar. Embroider a design or your pet's name. It's up to you.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep in mind which ends are the "top" of your pet collar, and attach the hardware accordingly.

  • Purchase nylon webbing at your local farm supply store or craft supply shop.

  • Recycled buckles from old backpacks make great buckles for your pet collar. If you don't have any available, check your favorite thrift store or sewing supplies shop.

  • When placing a collar on a young animal, make sure the collar has enough length to be adjusted as your pet grows.

  • It's very important to make the seams extra strong by double or triple stitching them.

  • Use sturdy fastenings that won't break if your pet jumps or lunges.

  • Make sure that the collar is not too tight. This could constrict your pet's breathing, resulting in injury or death.
