Goths traditionally love the macabre. They are dark, mysterious people, usually teens, who try to achieve a look that is outside the mainstream through their choice of clothes. There are various levels goth, ranging from a few specially chosen clothing items to a complete goth style from head to toe with tastes and interests to match. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Black clothes
  • Black boots
  • Black eyeliner
  • Black nail polish
  1. Step 1

Style your hair like a goth. Dye your hair black, and gel it into the desired shape. Mold it into spikes or into a stick straight hairdo.

  2. Step 2

Outfit yourself in as much black as possible. Wear black fishnet stockings, black dresses or pants and heavy black boots. Dye your personal items black, and wear black or silver accessories.

  3. Step 3

Listen to bands that are outside the mainstream but still recognized as standard goth bands such as Slipknot.

  4. Step 4

Wear thick black eyeliner and pale white powder. Style your face after a vampire with either bright red or black lipstick. Paint your nails black. Achieve the palest skin color you can.

  5. Step 5

Seek out the darkest aspects of everything. Watch dark, depressing movies, and read similar literature. Deck out your room with art that reflects the darker side of life. Paint your walls black, if possible. Write depressing poetry reflecting the bleakness of your experiences.

  6. Step 6

Deny that you are going for any type of style at all. Tell anyone who asks that you don't follow any clothing style guidelines and that you wear the clothes you do because they reflect your interests in the dark and mysterious.

on 1/15/2009 Bauhaus, or Siouxsie & The Banshees, why not the easyist one Sisters of Mercy, but Slipknot lol i mean yeah you can be int goth and like slipknot but they are not a goth band at all, thats some who doesn't know what they are talking about so if you was to use this advice for what ever reason u feel u have to, its so wrong and you'd be a fool for doing so, hell your a fool if u need a guide. any subculture asks u to bring your self, everything els is the reason u was atracted to it in the first place and you and only you dictate the likes and dislikes the shapes and colors attitude and all.

ummmm, PLEASE... being "goth" or into the culture goes BEYOND being a teenager. most teenagers are in a phase anyway (ie, EMO), & that is NOT goth.

"standard goth bands such as Slipknot"

STANDARD??!?!?!?! BAHAHA!!!! Slipknot goes beyond sucking, let alone putting them in the same category as 'goth'....

seriously... what obviously CLUELESS individual actually had the audacity to write this article?????

1 Star for misinformation.

Goth refers to a fan of Goth Rock. That's Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, Joy Division, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Specimen, Sex Gang Children, etc.
