The Simpsons debuted on TV in 1989. Since then, Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa, Maggie and the rest of the animated cast have been staples in our homes and in popular culture. Many households have a few Simpsons toys and promo items on display, but some fans collect memorabilia featuring the show's characters. The variety of collectible Simpsons items is truly astounding. Here's how to start and add to your collection.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Browse eBay for Simpsons toys, games, action figures and lots of promotional items. The array of memorabilia available to collect is mind-boggling, including things like stickers, skateboards, clothing and arcade games.

  2. Step 2

Search websites such as Amazon.com, Yahoo shopping, and specialized toy websites. They always have new and used Simpsons items for sale. Simpsons fan web pages may occasionally offer items for sale as well.

  3. Step 3

Talk with other fans at comic book conventions or on message boards. They may have or know where to get that Principal Skinner key fob you've wanted for years.

  4. Step 4

Visit Toys R Us, Target and your local comic shop. You can find some of the lesser-known Simpson character toys at chain stores for a discount. Many of the most unusual bargains aren't advertised, so study the displays as you shop for items you'd like to collect.

  5. Step 5

Keep abreast of new Simpsons developments. Some 7-11s were turned into Kwik-E Marts to advertise the Simpsons movie, and this yielded new promotion-specific memorabilia. Many fast-food restaurants also offered Simpsons promotions throughout the years, and finding these items may prove the biggest challenge of all for a Simpsons fan to collect.
