How to Make a Spinach and Bacon Salad
Spinach and bacon salad is a warm salad rich with vitamins and nutrients. This recipe takes less than 30 minutes to prepare and cook. Spinach is high in iron and helps fight Anemia. Use lean bacon or turkey bacon to make the recipe even more healthy. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 3 green onions
- 2 quarts fresh spinach
- 6 slices bacon
- Skillet
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- Dash of pepper
- 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese
- 1 small package croutons
- 1 can sliced green olives
- 1 can sliced black olives

Slice onions into thin, 1/8-inch pieces.

Fry the bacon until crispy and then strain the grease. Add 1/4 cup of strained grease to skillet.

Cut the spinach into small bite-sized pieces and place in the skillet.

Add vinegar, sugar, salt, mustard and pepper to the skillet.

Cook the spinach over low heat for 3 to 4 minutes. Stir the mix as it cooks.

Pour the cooked spinach into a large bowl.

Put the onions, croutons and olives into the bowl and then toss the salad.

Crush the bacon into bits and pour it on the top of the salad. Sprinkle cheese over the bacon. Serve immediately.

Tips & Warnings
This recipe yields 8 servings.
Spinach and bacon salad is good served with sliced ham or turkey. A light vinaigrette dressing can be heated up and added to the top of the salad if it is dry.
Substitute turnip or mustard greens for the spinach if you want a different flavor, or if you can't stand the taste of spinach.
