Something as simple as eating an ice cream cone can be quite a complicated task. You must manage the entire cone in such a way where it does not drip down the sides or allow the ice cream to topple off the cone and onto the floor. There are a few simple steps you can follow to ensure you eat your ice cream cone without making a mess.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Napkins
  • Paper cup and spoon (if cone is cracked)
  1. Step 1

Analyze the ice cream and the cone. Check to see how lopsided the scoop placement is and if there are any pieces of ice cream that are about to fall.

  2. Step 2

Promptly lick or bite off any overhanging pieces of ice cream that are about to fall off.

  3. Step 3

Examine the cone itself to see if the tip of the cone is broken or if there are large cracks in the cone.

  4. Step 4

Lick the ice cream around the perimeter of the cone going from the bottom all the way around to the top, in a spiral motion. The cone should be turned constantly to achieve an even shape around the cone.

  5. Step 5

Push the ice cream down gently with your mouth to secure it firmly in the cone.

  6. Step 6

Repeat the licking around the perimeter of the ice cream until you have no more ice cream showing above cone level.

  7. Step 7

Nibble at the cone around the edge to expose the ice cream within the cone.

  8. Step 8

Continue to lick around the ice cream and nibble down the remainder of the cone until finished.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the cone has large cracks in it that will not support ice cream licking, secure a cup for the ice cream and eat with a spoon instead.
  • Soft serve ice cream is more secure on the cone and will not need to be pushed into the cone.
  • Have napkins nearby in the event of ice cream dripping unexpectedly.
  • For cones that have a broken tip, you must alternate between licking the ice cream and sucking at the bottom of the cone. If you do not suck at the bottom of a broken cone, ice cream will drip out and create a mess.
  • Do not eat ice cream too quickly, a headache may result.
  • Ice cream with "chocolate shell" around it must have the chocolate eaten off of the ice cream before licking around the perimeter begins.
  • You must eat your ice cream as fast as possible when outside in extremely hot weather.
