It can be challenging to eat healthy when eating out. Learn to carry healthy habits through at all times by knowing what things on a menu are better than others. Use the tips below to make healthy choices while eating at Shakey's.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose things from the menu that are low in calories. Shakey's hot ham and cheese sandwich has only 550 calories. Shakey's thin crust cheese pizza has only 133 calories per slice. The thin crust veggie pizza has only 125 calories per slice, and the pepperoni and sausage thin crust pizza has only 150 calories per slice.

  2. Step 2

Eat low-fat foods. The thin and thick crust pizzas are the best choice for a low-fat diet. The cheese and veggies pizzas each have only 5 grams of fat, while the meat pizzas have closer to 8 grams. The homestyle pizzas have more fat, with at least 14 grams per slice.

  3. Step 3

Order things that are low in cholesterol. Fortunately, none of the pizzas have a lot of cholesterol. The best choices are the cheese and veggie pizzas, with around 13 mg of cholesterol in thick or thin crust. The meat pizzas have no more than 21 mg of cholesterol per slice.

  4. Step 4

Follow a low-carbohydrate diet. The best option for a low-carb diet is a thin crust pizza. They each have around 13 grams of carbs per slice.

  5. Step 5

Make low-sodium choices from the menu. The thick, thin and homestyle pizzas are all relatively low in sodium. The very best option is the thin crust veggie pizza, with only 313 mg of sodium. Stay away from the fried chicken and sandwiches.
