Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Solid colored wrapping paper
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paper plates
  • Paper towels
  • Rubber stamp
  • Wedge sponges
  • Window cleaner
  1. Step 1

Lay a piece of plain gift wrap on a hard, flat surface. White or ivory colored paper work best because the light background enables you to match any color paint to go with it. If you choose a colored paper, make sure it compliments the paint color.

  2. Step 2

Pour a small amount of acrylic paint onto a paper plate.

  3. Step 3

Dip the end of a wedge sponge into the paint and apply it to your stamp using a patting motion.

  4. Step 4

Stamp a piece of scrap paper to test your technique and see how your pattern will look. Then when you're ready, begin stamping your gift wrap. You will have to reapply the paint to your stamp several times as you work.

  5. Step 5

Clean your stamp by pressing it repeatedly onto a paper towel moistened with water and diluted window cleaner. Then repeat the previous steps with a second color of paint.

  6. Step 6

Allow the paint to dry thoroughly before using the gift wrap.

Tips & Warnings
  • Clean your stamps thoroughly after every use. Some paints and inks will stain them, but the stain won't affect future uses.
  • Never submerse mounted stamps in water to clean them. Excessive water could cause the wood to warp. It could also get trapped under the seal causing the rubber to break down over time.
