How to Make Vanilla Pudding

When you are craving vanilla pudding, you could go the easy route and whip up a box of instant pudding to get your fix. But why go instant when you could go homemade? This vanilla pudding recipe will have you throwing away those boxes of instant pudding for good. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Large bowl
  • 4 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tbsp. butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions

      Combine the cornstarch with a portion of the milk in a large bowl. Mix well.

      Add the eggs to the cornstarch and milk, making sure all ingredients are well blended.

      Add the rest of the milk gradually to the bowl, then add the sugar and mix well.

      Place the bowl of pudding mixture in the microwave for 10 minutes.

      Remove the bowl from the microwave and stir in the vanilla extract.

      Drop the butter into the pudding mixture and cook in the microwave for another 10 minutes.

      Remove the pudding from the microwave and beat with a hand mixer or fork until the mixture thickens. If the pudding is still not thick enough, cook in the microwave for another 5 minutes. If the pudding becomes too thick, just stir a in little bit of milk.
