Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Contact a pet store or breeder, and select the iguana that fits your needs. Select a young iguana, if you want to raise the lizard and watch it grow. Select an older lizard, if an impressive size is what you want.
Step2
Look at possible cages for your iguana. Choose a cage that will accommodate the iguana's eventual length of 6 feet. Purchase a secure top for the cage that keeps the iguana in even as he gains weight and strength.
Step3
Purchase healthy iguana foods, such as a commercial iguana food or a collection of fresh vegetables. Buy a health supplement to provide the iguana with daily calcium and vitamins.
Step4
Buy a terrarium heater that can keep the cage at a constant temperature of 80 to 90 degrees. Choose an indirect heat source that keeps the iguana from burning, such as a heat lamp.
Step5
Place some sturdy turf at the bottom of the cage, instead of wood chips or other items the iguana can swallow. Provide some items that your pet can climb on too.
Step6
Get nail clippers specially made for iguana nail care.
