How to Find Spirit Orbs
Spirit orbs--the little transparent circles on photos--are, to many ghost hunters, signs of paranormal activity. Spirit orbs are usually the most common sign of ghosts caught by ghost hunters and are probably the easiest indication of ghostly activity for amateurs to catch. However, you can't see spirit orbs except in pictures. Here's how to spot them.

Decide what kind of camera you want. Ghost hunting experts claim orbs on digital cameras are from 'glitches' in the processing, making a 35mm camera with film more preferable. In addition, many digital cameras have shutter delay, possibly making it harder to 'surprise' a spirit. However, digital cameras allow you to see the pictures you've just snapped, letting you know immediately whether you've got some spirit activity. You can also download them onto your computer, allowing you to blow up sections so you can really see what's going on in your pictures.

Learn what causes orbs in many pictures. Orbs can be caused by reflections of dust and moisture in the air. Never go hunting for spirit orbs on damp or foggy nights since you won't be able to tell if your orbs are caused by weather or actual spirits. Never jump onto a dusty bed, vigorously open up dusty curtains or stomp your feet on dusty carpet while ghost hunting since this will stir up dust particles and cause you to take pictures of dust orbs.

Take lots and lots of pictures. Since spirit orbs are only visible in pictures, you will need to take lots of pictures. Some experts will take hundreds of pictures during a ghost hunt and only catch one or two actual spirit orbs.

Try to encourage some ghostly activity on your ghost hunt as you snap pictures. Talk to the ghosts, ask them to manifest themselves or show some sign they are present. This may help you to catch some spirit orbs.

Tips & Warnings
Dust orbs are pure circles with no borders and may be colored red, orange or yellow.
Moisture orbs tend to be angular in shape.
True spirit orbs usually have movement, their own light source and may be colored in the cooler spectrum of blues and greens.

I have had an orb about 20 years ago on my side of the bed up in the corner of our bedroom at nite. There was an errie feeling in the townhouse with the heavy breathing a few times a week behind our basement door., ,, also our kitchenh cupboards was all opened up and our drawers were pulled open,, a recliner pushed back on occasion. We were watching tv in the basement one time and we were arguing who was going to turn the tv and it just turned off by it sefl. The button was pushed in. I would hear footsteps , get up out of bed and look at the kids and they would be sleeping so it wasn't them. We didn't live there much longer,, how ever I believe the orb was there to pertect us for what ever was bad there. I felt something was weird in the home and when one of our company said something about it ,, I knew I wasn't nuts! lol. They heard it too.

Hello, I would like to take a second and state that if you meditate for a long enough period of tim eit is possible to see the orbs, without equipment. I speak from experience. I used a chakra meditation followed by breath meditation, where i semply focused on my breath with my eyes closed, upon opening my eyes i saw the most spetacular display of orbs, beyond what i could have imagined. from then on ive seen them with out meditation from time to time but mostly only wheni am or have been meditating. It is my understanding that the orbs are energies, they are not always spirits, many intence thoughts are linked with highly visible orbs. My suggestion is to try meditating in a large library, where people will be actively engauged in thought, i would recromend using a cd or mp3 player with wordless meditation music so that the sounds around you do not distract you from your purpose...
