Step 1
Listen carefully to conversations around you. Perhaps you didn't realize that a co-worker, a friend of a family member, a parent at dance class or a neighbor is also a single parent.
-
Step 2
Offer up your knowledge and support. When you hear of someone going through a divorce, invite them over for a coffee or to a movie.
-
Step 3
Read your local newspaper calendars, fliers in the library and signs around town looking for events sponsored by local parents groups. These events are attended by singled and coupled parents and a great opportunity to meet other parents in your area.
-
Step 4
Begin your own single parents support group for your area. Create an environment that is open to meeting the needs of both single moms and dads who are looking for some time away from the house as well as companionship from other adults to share parenting successes and goals.
-
Step 5
Post an ad for your single parents group on Craig's List, on the events section of a local paper and on fliers where children's activities and classes take place.
-
Step 6
Set up a simple calendar of events including time for just the adults to meet in a public place as well as outings geared towards the family such as a day at the local zoo or park.

on 1/20/2008 Most of the people will run away if they know someone is a single parent except single parents themselves. SingleParentLoving.com is a good site to meet single parent. You may find out other single parents in your area. Good Luck!
