Instructions

    • 1

Mix 1/2 cup of citric acid with 2/3 cup of baking soda. Mix these two ingredients together until the mixture is very fine. Use an electric mixer to get the best results.

    • 2

Stir in a dry bath coloring agent. Use a pigment specially made for bath bombs, or another similar pigment that works in a dry mixture. Add a small amount of color, even if it doesn't seem like enough-other ingredients bring out the dry pigment's color.

    • 3

Include a fragrance oil. Smell test the mixture and adjust the amount according to your own preferences.

    • 4

Pour some witch hazel into a squirt bottle. Spray the dry mixture with the witch hazel. Test the mixture after every few squirts to determine the texture. Make a moist paste, and stop spraying when the mixture is moist enough to stick together. Add in more of the dry ingredients, if you accidentally spray in too much witch hazel.

Put the mixture into molds. Use molds specifically for bath bombs, or other small, sturdy molds. Let them sit in the molds for a few minutes to harden, then tap the molds to release the bath bombs. Allow the bombs to dry for a few hours before using.
