Cornhole is a game played with two cornhole platforms and eight corn bags. A popular pastime in places such as Ohio and Kentucky, cornhole is a game that can be played by anyone who can toss a corn bag 30 feet. If the game interests you, do what many cornhole enthusiasts do and organize a cornhole tournament.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Cornhole platforms
  • Corn bags
  • Tournament rules
  • Flyers

Step1
Choose a location and date. Cornhole can be played almost anywhere there is a flat surface for the cornhole platforms with enough space to allow 27 feet between the platforms.
Step2
Determine the size of your tournament and invite participants. Have the interested participants RSVP to you at least two days in advance of the tournament. Get enough cornhole platforms and corn bags to accommodate the number of participants.
Step3
Decide whether players can participate as individuals or as doubles partners. Decide if you want to have them sign up as a team or if you want to create the pairings.
Step4
Establish the rules of the tournament in advance and share the rules with participants. Standard cornhole rules are found at Cornholeparty or on the American Cornhole Association website.
Step5
Figure out the cost of the tournament and decide whether or not to charge a registration fee for participants. Any prizes offered to the winner and food served during the tournament must be figured into the cost.
Step6
Publicize the event. Make phone calls, hang flyers and post the event on a website. The American Cornhole Association allows free posting of ACA cornhole tournaments.

Tips & Warnings

  • Plan for an alternative date or location in case of rain.
