The Philadelphia Zoo is located on over 40 acres in Pennsylvania. You can visit the zoo year-round and it is open rain or shine. Use the following tips to make the most out of your Philadelphia Zoo visit.

From Quick Guide: Visit Philadelphia
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy tickets online. In order to avoid long ticketing lines, buy your tickets ahead of time. You print out your tickets at home and bring them on the day of your visit for entrance to all zoo attractions.

  2. Step 2

Use the zoo map. To make your way around the Philadelphia Zoo, take one of the provided maps or print one out ahead of time from the zoo website.

  3. Step 3

Take a ride on the Channel 6 Zooballoon. The Zooballoon allows you to rise high above the zoo in a passenger helium balloon. This ride is not included in your zoo ticket price.

  4. Step 4

See the reptile exhibits. Make time to visit the Reptile and Amphibian House as well as the Reptile Exercise Yard. You can see all types of reptiles up close in their natural environments.

  5. Step 5

Bring your own food and drinks. You are permitted to carry in your own refreshments into the zoo. There are also concessions available to purchase food and beverages.
