How to Ski in the Poconos
Every winter, skiers head to the many slopes found in the Poconos, an area in the northeast section of Pennsylvania. There are almost a dozen ski resorts found in the Pocono Mountains. You can find trails in the Poconos for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, trails for beginners and more advanced skiers. Read on to learn how to ski in the Poconos.

Choose a ski resort. Popular Poconos resorts include Big Boulder Ski Area, Camelback, Blue Mountain Ski Area and Shawnee Mountain. Most of these resorts have trails for downhill skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing.

Purchase your lift tickets. Weekday and night skiing are cheaper than weekend and holiday lift tickets. Certain mountains also offer the option of purchasing a half-day pass.

Rent any ski equipment. You can rent your skis on site or at one of the area's surrounding ski shops. On site rentals are more costly.

Relax after a day of skiing in one of the mountain lodges. Ski areas in the Poconos have some of the coziest lodges with fireplaces and hot refreshments.

Make time to ski at other nearby resorts while in the Poconos. Lift tickets are good at both Big Boulder and Jack Frost ski areas on the day of purchase.

If you are new to skiing, Poconos ski resorts offer lessons. You can purchase private lessons or sign up for a group class.
Remember to dress warmly while skiing in the Poconos. Your best bet is to dress in several layers that include thermal underwear, a sweater and a water-proof heavy jacket.
