If you have an artificial Christmas tree, you can store it away after the holidays and use it for years to come. Proper storage protects an artificial Christmas tree and keeps your decorations well maintained without the need to replace anything for a long time. Read on to learn how to store an artificial Christmas tree.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a place to store your artificial Christmas tree. Most people keep their tree in the attic or the basement. A garage is another option, if you lack the interior space.

  2. Step 2

Keep all assembly instructions with the stored tree. You must stash the instructions with the tree in order to refresh your memory on how it needs to be put together.

  3. Step 3

Put the tree in an artificial tree storage bag. First take down the decorations and disassemble the tree before placing it in one of these heavy duty bags. The bags are usually moisture proof and don't tear easily.

  4. Step 4

Use plastic storage bins. Another option is to place all decorations and the tree in large plastic storage containers. These are stackable and protect the tree.

  5. Step 5

Purchase a fully decorated tree storage bag. These large bags can be used to cover an artificial tree that is assembled and still decorated. This way, you can simply uncover it and it is ready to be used the following year.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to also keep the tree stand with the stored tree. Keeping everything in one spot makes it easier to assemble the tree next year.
  • The fully decorated tree bags take up a lot of room, so you need adequate space to store the tree in this container.

on 1/9/2008 Great....WHERE can I get a storage BIN (not bag) that is long and deep enough for my tree. We have been flooded several times and I want to protect my beautiful, hard-to-find panel tree.
