Microsoft Publisher is a powerful program for making business cards. The program is easy to follow. You decide on design, color, orientation and logo. Print them in black ink or color. You can even take the saved file to a professional print shop for as many perfect copies as you need. Read on to learn how to make a business card using Microsoft Publisher.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Add Information to One Side

Step1
Open Microsoft Publisher and click "Publications for Print" located in the "New Publication" pane. Or, click "File" then "New" to access business card layouts.
Step2
Choose "Business Cards" from the list. You have a choice between "Plain Paper" and "Special Paper." From the display select the business card template that you like and click the picture.
Step3
Decide on color and font schemes from options in the "Business Card Options" pane. Or, you can keep the default setting for the card.
Step4
Click on "Logo" in the options pane. You can include a company logo or clip art.
Step5
Select "Orientation" and "Copies" from the options. Choose either landscape or portrait for your card's orientation and set either "One" or "Multiple" from the copies per sheet.
Step6
Type your personal information on the card in the template along with adding your logo or a picture.
Step7
Save your business card and print. Use a heavy paper for cards and invest in a paper cutter for clean edges.

Add Information to Both Sides

Step1
Stay in Publisher with your card's front side completed.
Step2
Press "Insert" with your mouse from the toolbar menu.
Step3
Highlight and click "Insert Page" from the dialog box.
Step4
Add any information you want to appear on the backside of your business card, including photos, clip art or logo.
Step5
Save the file and print when both sides are complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • Multiple copies by default are 10 copies per sheet.
  • To type both sides of your card you need a duplex capable printer. Choose duplex from your printer setting. The default set-up for 10 pages is best for correct alignment between front and back. Test a copy sheet to make sure.
  • Choose Avery labels for best printing results. Publisher has several business card labels to pick from. Access labels from "File" then "Page Setup" on the top toolbar. Pick the "Layout" tab then "Publication Type" and finally "Label." The sizes are listed for your selection.
  • To add your logo or photo, right click on the default picture. A dialog box opens with "Change Picture" on the list. Choose the file location and the picture you want.
