In the 1920s, children on Maui used round cardboard tops from milk bottles to play a game that resembled Menkos, an ancient Japanese game. The children called the game "Pog" because the caps had Passion Fruit-Orange-Guava Juice logos printed on them. Years later, the game caught the eye of businessmen who saw it as an investment. Even today, there are tournaments for children and adults who enjoy the game. Read on to learn how to buy pogs.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Search eBay and other Internet sites for collectors willing to sell rare pogs like the DC SkyCaps or the promotional sets from companies like 7-Eleven and McDonald's. These will be hard to come by, as they have become collectors' items.

  2. Step 2

Become a collector of pogs. Current pogs are available from most toy stores, hobby shops, sports collectible stores or specialty shops like comic book stores.

  3. Step 3

Buy new sets of pogs. These are inexpensive. A foil pack of pogs runs about $3.00, and POG game sets cost about $13.00.

  4. Step 4

Look for pogs that have a holographic seal when purchasing new packs.

  5. Step 5

Find slammers wherever pogs are sold. Slammers come in a variety of forms, from metal to plastic, and all different colors. If you don't want to buy a slammer, make one at home. The Itoys site recommends gluing two pogs together with a metal washer in the middle to create a weighted slammer you can use for your next round of pog.
