How to Make a Charlie Brown Costume
Next to Snoopy, Charlie Brown is one of the best known Peanuts characters. His simple dress, yellow zigzag shirt, black shorts and bald head, make an easy costume. Here are some helpful ides to make an authentic Charlie Brown costume.
Things You'll Need
- Gold t-shirt
- Black fabric
- Fabric scissors
- 1 cup of flour
- Plastic container
- Beach ball
- Newspaper
- 4 tbs. salt
- Sheer black fabric
- Scissors
- Flesh colored paint
- Gold socks
- Dark colored shoes

Buy a gold t-shirt and black fabric at Wal-Mart or a craft store such as Michael's. Cut a zigzag pattern out of the black fabric using fabric scissors and adhere to the gold t-shirt by sewing or sticking one quarter from the bottom of the shirt.

Make a Charlie Brown mask using paper mache. Boil 4 cups of water while mixing 2 cups of water with 1 cup of flour in a plastic container.

Add flour and water mixture to the boiling water and let simmer until smooth for about 3 minutes. Add salt and let cool before dipping newspaper into mixture.

Dip newspaper into the mixture one piece at a time. Squeeze extra paste off the strip before placing the piece on a beach ball. Cover until the base, except for an opening in the bottom for the costume wearer's head, newspaper strips smoothing the strips as you place them.

Let the paper mache dry for 24 hours, add another layer and let it dry again for 24 hours. Add 3 layers in total. Once it dries let the air out of the beach ball and remove it.

Cut eyes into the head and cover the eyes with sheer black fabric. Paint the head flesh color and draw a Charlie Brown expression and Charlie Brown curl on the forehead. Complete the outfit with dark shoes and gold socks.

Carry a snoopy doll for added effect.
Allow three to four days for paper mache to dry.
