One of the best things about hanging out in a pub, tavern, etc. is grouping up with friends to play a few rounds of darts. If you'd like to capture the same fun for your next home gathering, consider setting up an electronic dartboard. You'll get the benefits of automatic score keeping, and the plastic-tipped darts will save your walls from holes. Here's how to use an electronic dartboard.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Screwdriver
  • Heavy duty screws (if not provided)
  • Tape measure
  • Leveling tool (optional)

    Initial Dartboard Setup

  1. Step 1

Find an ideal location for setting up the dartboard. The space should be fairly open and allow for the toe-line to be at least seven feet from the dartboard. If your particular model includes an AC adaptor, make sure there is a power outlet close by.

  2. Step 2

Determine the spot on the wall where the dartboard will be mounted if it is not a freestanding unit. As a general rule, the bullseye is supposed to be about 5'8" from the ground. Locating a wall stud will make the mounting more secure.

  3. Step 3

Screw the dartboard into the wall, making sure it is as immobilized as possible.

  4. Step 4

Situate a standing unit dartboard flat against a wall, again near a power outlet if the system comes with an AC adaptor.

  5. Step 5

Screw the tips onto the darts if pieces arrive separately.

  6. Activation and Gameplay

  7. Step 1

Read the dartboard instruction manual. Different models will offer different varieties of options and games. Read to find out what games are in the system and how many people can be scored per game.

  8. Step 2

Power up the dartboard when everyone is ready to play. Plug the unit into the power outlet (again, if there is an AC adaptor) and press the power button.

  9. Step 3

Access the menu to choose what game will be played. Assemble teams accordingly.

  10. Step 4

Have fun! Make sure players know the rules of the game being played, and get started. Scoring is automatic, so the tricky part is already taken care of.
