2. Locate a live checkers tournament by using the American Checker Federation website. Once at the homepage of the website, click on the "Tournaments" link on the top navigational panel. On the next page, you can find a listing of checkers tournaments. Find one in your area that is on a date that works for you.

3. Register for the live checkers tournament. Many tournaments have some sort of online registration, while others require an email or a phone call. Follow the instructions fully to make sure that you register correctly.

4. Call ahead for more information before you go to a live checkers tournament. Ask how many competitors there will be and any other regulations you must follow. The more prepared you are, the better chance you have to win the tournament.
