Many are lucky enough to have a washer and dryer in their home, but there are plenty of situations in which one might find themselves dependent upon a public laundromat in order to clean their clothes. The washing and drying process is somewhat different, but no more difficult, than that of doing laundry at home.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Gather enough quarters to do as many loads as you plan in the washer and dryer. Generally, four quarters is the price for one load of clothes in each the washer and the dryer, but prices vary, so bring extra change.

  2. Step 2

    Find the nearest laundromat.

  3. Step 3

Bring a book, magazine or some other form of entertainment.

  4. Step 4

Separate clothes as you normally would at home and load them in to your selected washing machine.

  5. Step 5

Add laundry detergent as required by the size of the load and the condition of the clothes.

  6. Step 6

Load quarters in to the appropriate slots and make simple selections (such as temperature of water and wash cycle) on the machine.

  7. Step 7

    Start the washing machine.

  8. Step 8

Relax and utilize your entertainment source while your clothes are being washed.

  9. Step 9

Repeat process with the dryer and take your clean laundry home.

Tips & Warnings
  • In most laundromats, all washers and dryers are the same make and model. No need to go hunting for the best one.
  • Pick a machine which you can keep an eye on from wherever you choose to sit down.
  • Make sure you bring everything you need. A friendly stranger may allow you to borrow something, but don't count on it.
  • If you plan to leave the laundromat at any time while doing your laundry, label your belongings.
