Sending Christmas cards is a tradition for many during the month of December. Some people display the cards they received and discard them once the holidays are over. However, incorporating Christmas cards into your scrapbook hobby is one way to recycle the cards.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large plastic zipper bag
  • Christmas cards
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Christmas cookie cutter
  • Scissors
  • Archival quality glue stick
  1. Step 1

Store the Christmas cards with scrapbook papers and other materials until you are ready to use them. A gallon size plastic zipper bag can hold any size card.

  2. Step 2

Incorporate Christmas cards into Christmas themed scrapbooks and layouts by using the cards for inspiration and ideas. The cards are useful for creating designs in borders, decorating journaling blocks, creatively matting photos and making captions.

  3. Step 3

Recreate the elements from the cards or use the actual cards. If the cards are not the right scale for the layout, then recreate the elements on your layout that are most fitting.

  4. Step 4

Use cookie cutters to create die cuts from the cards by placing the cookie cutter on the card and tracing the cutter on the card. Cut out the cookie cutter shape and glue it on the scrapbook page.

  5. Step 5

Make bookmarks and tags for journaling blocks from the Christmas cards that can also be a part of the scrapbook layouts. Remove the back of the card and use the front as an element in the layout or on a title page. For example, a snow scene can be a creative mat for a photo or decorated fireplace can be a great background for other embellishments like stocking stickers.
