How to React to Flares
In a nighttime combat situation, flares and illume rounds can be quiet dangerous. In a paint-ball game they can be game enders. Here are some methods on how to react to flares.

1
Get prone as soon as a flare is detected. In other words lie down, preferably behind a bush or some other kind of cover. Flares can silhouette you, so you want to be low to the ground. If you can't, get behind cover, lie on your stomach with your arms at your side and try to look like a log. Just be quick about getting down. In the low-light world of the night, the eye is most drawn to movement.

2
Close one eye to protect your night vision. Use the other eye to look around the best you can. You may as well make use of the bad guy's flare. Remember, he's lighting up the area and you might be able to see where he is as well. Take note of where your team is.

3
Wait for the flare to burn out. This can take awhile, so be patient. Remember not to move.

4
Rejoin your team once the flare has burned out and continue your mission.

Tips & Warnings
Hand-held parachute flares make a whooshing noise when they are fired, so get down when you hear this sound before the flares go off.
Trip-wire flares don't give any warning before they go off; they are set off by people. So even if you avoid being spotted while the flare is lit, the bad guys know you are in the area, so continue your mission with caution.
Be conscious of what you are falling on when you react to a flare. Thorn bushes, sharp objects or land mines can all cause additional trouble.
