For your tiki party to be a success, take your time during the planning process. You are paying homage to what the Polynesians believe is the creator of man. As a result of your careful planning, your tiki party will go off without a hitch.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Food recipes
  • Drink recipes
  • Decorations
  • Music

Step1
Choose a date. Keep your guests' schedule in mind when picking a date. If your friends work weekends, a day during the week will work out best.
Step2
Determine the type of invitations you will send. Peruse the many websites offering evites as well as your local party store for traditional invitations.
Step3
Mail the invitations. Whether you choose email or regular mail, be sure to give your guests plenty of time to respond. At least two weeks should be sufficient because tiki parties are informal.
Step4
Create the menu. Choose foods that go with an island theme, such as grilled and fresh fruit skewers.
Step5
Decide what beverages you will serve. Be sure to offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and buy according to how many people have confirmed that they will be attending.
Step6
Pick music for the tiki party. Choose tropical island music such as traditional Hawaiian music. Reggae music is also a good choice.
Step7
Buy tiki-themed decorations. Go to a local party store and find decorations that fit the theme of the party. Check out party stores online, too.

Tips & Warnings

  • Buy extra food for unexpected and last-minute guests. It is always better to have too much than not enough.
  • Get help. Have your friends and family help you prepare food and decorate the day before the party.
  • Let your neighbors know the night the party is scheduled so they can plan accordingly. It's the polite and courteous thing to do.
  • Never let your guests drink and drive. Call a cab, get them a ride from someone who is sober or have them stay the night.
