Embody the spirit of the 1970s by decking your house in all things disco at your '70s party. Celebrate the era of dancing queens and pet rocks, disco balls and platform shoes by transforming your home into your own Studio 54.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Beaded curtains
  • Disco ball
  • Strobe lights
  • '70s posters
  • Eight-track tapes

Step1
Buy a disco ball. This shiny, mirrored ball is must-have for any '70s party. Besides, you can't really enjoy disco music without the disco ball.
Step2
Set up strobe lights. These machines are relatively inexpensive to buy. Check with the local party rental store to see if you can rent one for your party. Then, set it up in the main room where people will be gathering.
Step3
Buy tablecloths, plates and cups in the ever-popular '70s colors of orange and brown. Set it all up on an avocado green tablecloth to complete the look.
Step4
Hang posters from popular people, bands and shows from the '70s. Anything that pertains to Saturday Night Fever, The Bee Gees, Farrah Fawcett or the Rocky Horror Picture Show is a good start.
Step5
Hang beaded curtains in doorways and entryways. Try to find them in the popular '70s earth tone colors such as avocado green and brown.
Step6
Buy old eight-tracks and pet rocks and use them as centerpieces on your tables. Check the local thrift store for the eight-tracks.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are using a strobe light and different colored lights, make sure your entryways and exits are well lit.
  • Place mini disco balls as sparkly centerpieces on your tables.
  • Designate one room for strobe lights and dancing. Some guests may not want to dance.
