"What's your sign?" isn't a very good pick-up line, but chances are you know yours. An astrologer--or astrologist--is someone who interprets the positions of the planets, sun and moon to predict the future and it is they who come up with daily divinations. Read on to see if it is in the stars for you to become an astrologer.

1. Determine that you actually want to become an astrologer. It is important to understand that becoming a professional astrologer can require study in many subjects including, history, philosophy and science.

2. Decide if you wish to do your study on campus or online. Check the Kepler College website for information on their curriculum. Their website also has a links page that lists additional accredited colleges that offer study in astrology.

3. Investigate your online study options carefully. The Institute of Professional Astrology offers a one year training course in astrology that does not include the humanities courses. If you already have a college degree, this may be a better option.

4. Invest in a few books on astrology to get caught up to speed on the latest in the field.

• If you have decided that you wish to take your courses online, make sure that they are from an accredited institution.
• Websites that offer a "Certificate" in Astrology without adequate study may not be the best choice to help you on your professional path. Investigate thoroughly before relinquishing any money.
• Be wary of Astrology software as your only form of learning. Professional astrologers caution that anyone can learn to cast an astrological chart by downloading software that you can buy on the Internet. It takes study to learn the true meanings of the chart and the reasons for the interpretation. There are no shortcuts to learning.
