The Heart to Heart Meditation is an exercise popularized by Dr. Brugh Joy. The purpose of this meditation is to open the heart center through the giving and receiving of unconditional love. Learn how to perform this powerful technique by following the steps below.

Instructions

      Sit facing your partner in a chair or on the floor. This exercise takes ten to twenty minutes, therefore be sure you are in a comfortable position prior to beginning.

      Place your hands palm to palm with your right hand holding the left hand of your partner. You may rest your hands on a pillow or in the lap for support.

      Close your eyes while keeping your back straight and feet on the floor. Ground yourself by focusing on your breathing for several minutes. Imagine your spine being connected to the earth.

      Visualize energy being pulled up from the earth through your spine and spreading throughout your body. You may feel a pulling or heavy sensation during this grounding phase. When you feel the calm flow of energy, proceed to the next step.

      Picture a warm white light surrounding your body and protecting it from any intrusions or distractions. See the light as a force field that shields you from any negative energy. Once this image has become clear in your mind, shift your attention to your heart.

      Imagine unconditional love radiating from your heart to your partner's. The emphasis of this meditation is on giving. Therefore, you should not attempt to feel anything from your partner.

      Complete the meditation by withdrawing your energy back into the heart. Open your eyes and embrace your partner.
