One of the best parts of being an adult at Christmas time is watching children unwrap their gifts. This is a fun escape from the office holiday parties and crowded stores. Picking out gifts for toddlers can be an enjoyable and easy experience.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Pick a reasonable price range. It can be tempting to pick up the flashiest toy on the market. Toddlers are not impressed by price tags, so there is no need to spend an outrageous amount on their gift. A good price range for a Christmas gift for a toddler is between ten and twenty dollars.
Step2
Ask the parents for suggestions. Many parents are particular about what they want their children to play with. Ask if the parents are against commercialized toys such as Elmo and Deigo or if they prefer toys that spark the imagination in their toddlers. There is no need to buy an art set for a toddler if her parents only allow washable craft supplies in the house.
Step3
Consider buying clothes. Toddlers are constantly growing, so parents are constantly having to buy bigger clothes. Many times the best Christmas gift to a toddler and her parents is a new outfit or an inexpensive pair of shoes. It is helpful to purchase items in the next size up.
Step4
Remember that toddlers have their own particular tastes. Toddlers are individuals. One toddler may love arts and crafts and the next may be too active to sit down. If you buy a toddler a Christmas gift she is interested in, she is more likely to enjoy it.
Step5
Experiment safely. Pick toys a little different than her normal toys but with something she enjoys. For example, a toddler who does not like books, but enjoys singing and Elmo may love a singing Elmo book.
Step6
Look at classic gifts. Dr. Seuss books, match cars and regular dolls are normally a hit with toddlers. Most people pass over these items in an attempt to buy the newest and hottest toys for a Christmas gift.

Tips & Warnings

  • Toddlers enjoy toys that make noise, have buttons to push, blocks, ride-on toys and flash cards.
  • Avoid the most popular toys. Although the newest toys seem like the logical Christmas gift, resist the temptation to purchase them. If parents want their toddler to get these toys, they can either pre-order or find them online.
