Rituals and ceremonies celebrating specific times of year and important dates are a large part of the Wiccan faith. These rituals often involve specific items like candles of a certain color as well as herbs and oils symbolic of certain aspects of the religion or of a desired result of the spell or ritual. Here are some tips for getting oils for Wiccan rituals.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Understand the significance. Prior to searching for specific oils understand why it is important to the spell that you are working. If you do not understand the power of the elements you are using then the meaning of the ritual or ceremony itself is lost, and you will be simply following a rote routine that has no real significance.

  2. Step 2

Be aware of name variations. Oils are often given many different names depending on their use in a particular ceremony or ritual, and one type of oil can end up being given dozens of "household" names over time. Know which oils are most commonly mistaken for one another.

  3. Step 3

Use a clear guide. There are several modern guides to oils and herbs for Wiccan ritual that are very useful in understanding what a specific oil is comprised of and what it is used for. Investing in one of these guides may be helpful to you.

  4. Step 4

Find a local specialty shop. Bookshops and stores that cater to New Age and pagan books, supplies and merchandise can be valuable resources. Proprietors of these stores may be able to supply you with the oil you are trying to find or direct you to an online source that carries it instead.

  5. Step 5

Make your own. Many modern guides to herbs and oils list not only the uses of these elements, but instructions for making many of the oils and incenses used in Wiccan ritual. These oils can often be made with basic kitchen ingredients blended together and then blessed or dedicated before use in a ritual.
