Logon to Alabama's official Department of Revenue website (see Resources below). Click on "Individual," "Motor Vehicle," "Related Links" and "Driver's Licensing" to be directed to Alabama's Department of Public Safety website.

Read all 50 pages of Alabama's official Motorcycle Operator Manual. Assimilate practical advice and pay special attention to rules, restrictions and laws regarding motorcycle operation.

Locate your nearest driver's license office by logging back onto Alabama's Department of Public Safety website, clicking "Driver License" and selecting "Driver License Office Schedule."

Visit your local Driver License Office.

Present your birth certificate, Social Security card and a supplementary form of identification.

Request and take a motorcycle operator's written test.

Tips & Warnings
Acceptable forms of supplementary identification are: a driver's license, marriage license, military identification card, school identification card or a Veterans Administration card. If you are 14 or 15 years of age, you must provide proof that you are currently enrolled in school.
Practical motorcycle knowledge tests, such as a motorcycle driving test, are currently not required in Alabama.
You must be at least 14 years of age to apply for a motorcycle license. Should you meet all the prerequisites for a motorcycle license, you will be granted a license with Class "M" designation. However, the license will carry a "B" restriction until you turn 16.
