Visit the lake when it is frozen and ask the numerous fishermen out there who are currently fishing in an ice shelter. They may be more than willing for a little company and conversation.

Look up the plans on the Internet. If all else fails, there are numerous sites at your disposal with plans that you can purchase, download and print right from home. Surf around for the best prices.

If you find good plans, check with various consumer websites and see if there is any information for you. You probably will not find anything, but if by chance you do and it is not good reviews, it is better to find out now before you start building.

When your ice shelter is complete, make sure the ice is thick enough to hold it up along with you.
