If you love fine wine and don't have the time or money to travel around the world wining and dining, take a wine course. A wine tasting seminar will introduce you to different wines from all over the world, and teach you about various aspects of wine and winemaking.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Read your favorite wine or gourmet magazine for information about wine courses in your area. Many adult education programs and fine wine or liquor stores offer these courses.

  2. Step 2

Enroll in the course and learn how wine is made. Hear how tannins, sugar and acids affect the way your favorite bottle of wine tastes.

  3. Step 3

Taste wines from France and Italy, and sample the best these countries have to offer. Learn the subtle differences between wines produced in different regions, like Tuscany, Piedmont, Alsace and Southern France.

  4. Step 4

Explore wines from America, including many varieties produced in California, merlot from Washington State and different white wines of New York. Compare by tasting them and noticing subtle differences between them.

  5. Step 5

Try wines from countries like Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Greece and Germany. Learn about bargains from these regions, and where to buy them in your area. Attend local wine tasting events to get different samples of wines from around the globe to see what you like.

  6. Step 6

Find out how to choose the right wine for your meals, and get tips on how to order wine in an upscale restaurant. Learn about sparkling and dessert wines. Then apply your new wine knowledge on your first night out on the town tasting various wines after the course ends.
