Instructions

    • 1

Make sure both of you have proof of age and identification. Couples getting married have to be over 18 years old in order to apply for a marriage license. It is better to be prepared than stuck.

    • 2

Bring your passport, return tickets and birth certificates just to make sure you have covered every angle. Barbados requires a valid passport for each person intending to get married.

    • 3

Take with you an original Decree Absolute or a certified Final Judgment copy if you were previously divorced. The Barbadian government will need to know that you are definitely not married anymore and are free of any past marriages.

    • 4

Get all of your documents translated if you speak a language other than English. This can help the application for a marriage license go a lot faster.

    • 5

Ensure your Bishop or the Bishop of Bridgetown sends all necessary documents needed if you are wishing to have a Roman Catholic Ceremony.

    • 6

Bring $200 for the marriage license if neither of you are citizens of Barbados. Bring an extra $45 for the official stamp. If one of you is a citizen, then the marriage license will be $45 and the stamp $10.
