Left handed people and those who are ambidextrous often prefer to have their mouse on their left side, which in turn may lead for the need to switch button properties. Switching the button properties, right for left and left for right, makes it easier and faster to get around a software program. It is also a quick and hilarious practical joke that can make a Monday morning very entertaining for everyone but the recipient.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Start in the Control Panel. To get the correct window, select "Start" and "Control Panel." This will bring up a new window on your screen.
Step2
Change to Classic View if you are not seeing all the icons on the Control Panel window. Select the "Classic View" on the upper left hand side of the window, in the first box. If this option is not appearing on your window, click the down arrow button next to the words "Control Panel."
Step3
Double click on the "Mouse" icon or word in the Control Panel window. This will bring up another window called Mouse Properties.
Step4
Click the "Buttons" tab in the Mouse Properties window if not already on the tab. In the top box of Button Configuration, click the box for "Switch Primary and Secondary Buttons."
Step5
Look down to the next box on the same Mouse Properties window to the Double Click Speed. This is where you can set your index finger speed when you are double clicking. Move the bar to the faster side of your first digit can click with rapid succession or slide it to the left if your pointer finger is just a little on the slower side.
