Adobe Photoshop is the premier graphic design tool on the market. It can be used by anyone. There is enough fluidity in the software that you can do just about anything to a graphic or picture with ease. Many special effects can be used to alter a picture. Texturing is just one of these special effects.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Decide if you want the whole photo or just parts to be affected by the texture process. If you want the whole picture to be affected, upload your picture into Photoshop and from the selection bar choose "filter."
Step2
Choose from the list of filter options which one you want to use. You can test each filter to see if you like it and if you don't, choose not to save what you have just done.
Step3
Survey your photo and decide if you want to texturize only a portion. You can use the lasso selection tool to draw exactly where you want textured. The lasso is much freer than cropping.
Step4
Treat your selected area to the texture you have chosen. You will go to the filter option and select your choice.
Step5
Develop layers in your photo. Cut and then paste your selection to a different layer in the photo and then texturize what you have pasted in that layer. Go to "Windows, then "layers," then with your cursor on the right side of your screen select "layer" and then push "ok."
Step6
Shrink the file size of your photo by selecting "Layer" and "Flatten image." File sizes are often a problem in working with Photoshop. Keep a mental image of the way you want your photo to be sized.

Tips & Warnings

  • Angular selections can be made with the polygonal lasso.
  • The magnetic lasso is all about picking pixels nearest to your cursor.
  • Remember to have plenty of white space and to not make the photo too busy.
  • Photoshop will allow you to undo the texture you have added only once.
  • It is important to not save anything you are not completely happy with.
