Pets are a part of the family, and creating a scrapbook just for them is a great way to document the important part they play in your life. Whether you have a dog that is your "baby" or a small zoo, follow these steps to create a scrapbook full of cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Scrapbook
  • Paper
  • Journaling pen
  • Craft scissors
  • Adhesive
  • Photos
  • Stickers
  • Embellishments
  1. Step 1

Focus your scrapbook. Decide if you want to create one scrapbook per pet or have one scrapbook that includes all of your pets.

  2. Step 2

Gather existing pictures of your pets. Take new pictures to fill in any gaps. Make a list of the kinds of pages you might want to create. This will help you select the right scrapbook at the store.

  3. Step 3

Go shopping for your pet scrapbook supplies. Take your page list and go to a scrapbook store or website. While you are there you may see stickers, paper or embellishments that inspire a new page idea. Run with it. At the very least you need to buy a scrapbook, paper, a journaling pen, craft scissors, adhesive and stickers.

  4. Step 4

Get scrapping. Lay out all the supplies in an organized fashion and keep your list of page ideas handy. Start your first page by creating the layout without actually adhering anything to the page. Once you have everything where you want it, begin attaching the pieces to the page from the bottom layer up.

  5. Step 5

Leave a place to journal. After you have put together the page, write a little to describe your pet, the photo, your feelings about the pet or the inspiration for the page.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ideas for great pages include: the origin of your pet's name, holidays, family fun, where your pet came from, vacations, favorite toys and bath time. Be creative and you will come up with many more interesting page ideas.
  • Use archival quality and acid free materials.
  • Include memorabilia such as adoption papers, tags and even little outfits if they will fit in the scrapbook.
  • If a large 12x12 scrapbook is too intimidating, start by making a smaller book such as a 5x7 or 6x6.
  • Instead of purchasing everything separately, start with a pet scrapbook kit, which includes all the basic materials to create a pet scrapbook.
