Step 1
Write a check. From the UNICEF Children's Fund to Children's Charities of America and to your local church or homeless shelter, all charities need extra contributions at Christmas for meals, toys and presents for needy children.
-
Step 2
Bring toys to your local fire station or other drop-off location for Toys for Tots and similar holiday toy drives. Your place of work may also sponsor a toy and gift drive for children.
-
Step 3
Volunteer at a homeless shelter or youth organization. You may take disadvantaged children on a shopping trip, to a Christmas concert or escort them to another holiday function they might miss otherwise. You may also prepare and serve a Christmas meal for them.
-
Step 4
Organize a toy drive or gift-giving drive at your church or community center for local children. Although larger city-wide charities may sponsor gift drives, personalizing one for your own area gives needy children a sense that they are part of the community, not outsiders.
-
Step 5
Include needy children in creative or artistic activities at Christmas, like singing in a choir or making Christmas ornaments at the community center. Improving a child's self-esteem during the holidays will make them as happy and fill your heart with joy.
