A girl's Quinceañera is traditionally a lavish affair with long gowns and black ties. But when teenagers gather to party, no matter how formal the affair, it's best to have some organized activities on hand to keep them entertained. There is often a DJ providing music, but not everyone dances, so taking a break from the music periodically to play a few quick games is a great way to keep everyone involved and having fun.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Writing paper
  • Pens
  • Spoons
  • Grapes
  • Karaoke machine
  • Jars
  • Candy
  • Prizes

Step1
Set up a table with pieces of writing paper and pens along with a balloon centerpiece to draw attention. Have an attendant at the table invite guests to write a funny poem or limerick about the guest of honor. Then later during the party, read the entries and have the audience vote by applause for their top three favorites and award prizes to the winners.
Step2
Play musical statues on the dance floor. When the music stops everyone must freeze in place. Have several adults on the floor acting as referees and when someone moves, even a blink, they're out and the music starts again. You'll be amazed at how quickly this game goes.
Step3
Divide the guests into several teams and have the teams form a line. When the music starts, have the first in line pass a grape to the next in line using only a spoon. Play continues until the grape reaches the last in line. However, if it gets dropped at some point, they must start all over at the beginning.
Step4
Rent a Karaoke machine or if you have a DJ ask them to provide one. With a little encouragement, you'll soon have all the entertainment you need.
Step5
Fill a jar with the Quince's favorite candies and count them as you put them in. Then have guest try to guess the number of candies in the jar and award it to the person who comes the closest. If your Quinceañera is large, you may want to fill several jars with different candies so there are multiple winners.

Tips & Warnings

  • Have your daughter record the activities leading up to her big day, as well as the highlights of her party, in a journal. She will cherish the memories for years to come and may one day share them with her own daughter.
