"Who wants to play tag?" "Not it." This is a typical recess conversation heard around playgrounds all across the country. Children enjoy the cat and mouse chasing games inspired by the game of tag. Scarecrow tag is an exciting variation of freeze tag that involves more rules and more fun.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Understand classic tag before moving on to Scarecrow tag. In Classic Tag everyone runs around and one person is always "it." This person is trying to touch or tag another participant to transfer the "it" status over to them. Whoever just had the "it" role is now running from the new "it" player and this goes on until the game is over.

  2. Step 2

Keeping score is not necessary in classic tag, but whoever doesn't get tagged or stay "it" for long is considered a good player. The game can end at any time.

  3. Step 3

Know the rules to freeze tag. Freeze tag is similar to classic tag except that when the "it" player touches a participant, they must "freeze" and remain standing still until the game is over. The "it" player continues to touch the other players until they are all "frozen." The last person to be "frozen" wins this round of freeze tag.

  4. Step 4

Learn and play scarecrow tag once you know how to play classic and freeze tag. It is a variation of freeze tag. Players who are "frozen" stand like a scarecrow and can be set free when a player that isn't "it" crawls underneath their legs or runs under their arms.
