From Quick Guide: Halloween Games
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Halloween party
  • A large carved pumpkin
  • A small pumpkin for each player
  • A flat surface
  1. Step 1

Find a flat surface to play this game; either indoors or on grass that's cut shortly.

  2. Step 2

Find a nice big pumpkin and carve it out. Put a flashlight inside to light it up and set the Halloween mood.

  3. Step 3

Place the large pumpkin approximately fifteen to twenty feet away.

  4. Step 4

Line up the children who are playing side by side on the start line. Give each a small pumpkin. Sugar pumpkins are perfect because they are the right size and a nice round shape for rolling.

  5. Step 5

Take turns rolling the pumpkin toward the big pumpkin. The youngestchild goes first.

  6. Step 6

Win the game by having your pumpkin get the closest to the large pumpkin. The winner gets a piece of candy or other Halloween treat.

  7. Step 7

Play the game over and over again until everyone gets tired or there are no prizes left to win.

Tips & Warnings
  • How far away you place the large pumpkin depends upon the players' ages. If you have a mixed lot of kids, you should let the smaller ones stand closer.
  • There are no throwing pumpkins in Pumpkin Bocce. A thrown pumpkin is a smashed pumpkin.
  • Don't put a candle inside the carved pumpkin. If it gets hit with one of the smaller pumpkins it could fall over and start a fire.
