If you have ever purchased anything you know what good customer service is. It means you receive efficient, honest, courteous personal treatment. But, if you are a salesperson, maintaining that high level of service can be difficult because every job gets just plain boring when you have to do it every day. So, if you want to keep your edge, here's a few tips on how to make customer service fun.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide on your attitude for the day. By looking at your customer service job on a day to day basis you break it down to something manageable. We can choose how we will approach our jobs and life so, choose to be happy and be ready for people to respond. Remember to smile. It can be infectious.

  2. Step 2

Find something about your job that you really enjoy. Maybe you enjoy making the shelves look great or helping a customer with a hard-to-find item. Focus on one thing and try to carry that attitude over to other aspects of your work.

  3. Step 3

Treat the customer like a friend you have just met. Listen to the customer, make eye contact and try to empathize with them. Have a conversation with your customer. This makes your job much less like work, and you may have a laugh or two in the process.

  4. Step 4

Go the extra mile for your customer. When you help a customer solve a problem and they express their gratitude, you will be amazed at how much fun your job will seem. It makes you both feel good.

  5. Step 5

Remember that play is a state of mind. Any task approached in a light hearted manner can be play. Any job done well can be play. Your customers will see the difference.
